WHEN DO MFA GIRLS JUNIORS GROUPS TRAIN AND PLAY GAMES?

Our 9-month program is made up of 3 seasons: Fall, Winter, and Spring.

Fall (September-November) and Spring (March-June)
Fall and Spring are the primary seasons for the MFA Junior program. MFA Juniors players train once a week (Fridays) together for a 90-minute training session. At the weekend, typically Saturdays, players will play in several local 4v4 festivals.

Winter (January-March)
We move indoor for the Winter Season. A 10-week season is held between Early January through Early March. Through the winter we train a reduced schedule in order to allow and encourage our younger players the downtime to recharge and try-other activities or sports.

WHAT IS THE MFA PATHWAY?

The MFA Junior program is the first step on the club pathway. During the Spring in 2022, the 2014 players will start being exposed to 7v7 play in preparation for the move into league play at U9.  At the conclusion of tryouts for the next year, players will be selected into teams and they will play U9 & U10 in local leagues (EDP). At U12 teams move into the PRE-ECNL phase, where they start playing other ECNL teams in a 9v9 league format. From U13 onwards teams move into ECNL and ECRL mode leagues and the players begin their journey in the number one girls league in the country.

WHO MAKES UP THE JUNIORS COACHING STAFF?

The MFA Juniors program has a full-time Youth Development Director, Richard Bentley, who is supported by assistant Youth Development Director, Daniel Coviello. Both coaches will help manage the program and players to ensure a high-quality offering for families. MFA Girls junior players will work with both these passionate and experienced coaches who are known for their ability to teach young players and share their love for the game.

CAN MY DAUGHTER DUAL CARD?

Yes – players are able to play with local teams and participate in our program. Players are expected to make at the MFA Junior sessions in order to be considered for participation in the weekend festivals. .

CAN A PLAYER PLAY UP AN AGE GROUP IN THE JUNIORS PROGRAM?

Our staff strives to make the best decisions for each player. If the Juniors staff feels that a player should play up, we will communicate with that family. However, all players must attend evaluations that correspond with their birth year, unless told otherwise by a Youth Development Director.

ARE THERE ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROGRAM?

The MFA Girls Junior program is FREE for all practices and games.

Players will need to purchase a junior uniform package (training t-shirt, short and sock)

CAN I JOIN AT ANY TIME OF THE YEAR?

YES – players are welcome to join year-round, as long as space is available to ensure the necessary Coach to Player ratios required for optimal development and safety.

DO I HAVE TO PLAY EVERY SEASON?

No – players are welcome to attend whatever seasons work best for them. Priority for places will be to players who have attended the past season, especially in Winter when the space is limited so numbers are capped. Naturally players who participate more will get more from the program, but the program is designed to be flexible.
