The Match Fit Chelsea U16 Girls Strikers made up of South and Central Jersey girls traveled to Orlando over the New Years break to participate in the Disney Soccer Showcase tournament. The girls competed in the Copa White Flight (one of five U16 Girls flights) consisting of 12 teams from around the country. The Strikers won their bracket with 1 win and 2 ties to move on to the semi finals. The Strikers won the semi final match against the Florida based Sunrise Youth Soccer Club in an exciting shootout after a 1-1 tie in regulation and overtime. The Strikers played well in a 1-0 lose in the finals to the Eden Prairie Soccer Club out of Minnesota. As well as Runners-Up, the girls received the Sportsmanship Award. The Strikers are currently ranked 6th in the State and are looking forward to an competitive spring soccer season participating in the MAPS League and high level tournaments.
