Overlook Hospital Youth Soccer Medical Team to Collaborate With Match Fit Chelsea To Support Healthcare Needs of Players
Overlook Hospital and Match Fit Chelsea recognize the need to protect the health and safety of our young athletes, similarly to how colleges/universities and professional teams provide a structured care model for their team members.
The Youth Soccer Medical Team at Overlook Hospital will be working with the Match Fit Chelsea players and coaches, beginning in February of 2011. An education session will be held to introduce the medical team to parents of the boys and girls teams, followed by an initial assessment and injury history for all players. Additionally, baseline concussion testing will be made available for all players.
This partnership will offer the players of Match Fit Chelsea access to healthcare professionals who will assist them in identifying injury risks, taking measures to avoid and prevent injuries, expedited access to care when injured and a supported process for returning to play after an injury. As part of our collaboration, any Match Fit player who requires care for either an orthopedic or musculoskeletal injury or a concussion will be given an appointment within 24-48 hours.
Additional information regarding education and testing dates will be made available through the Match Fit Chelsea leadership.
