Match Fit Chelsea offers Technical/Tactical functional position specific training for high level, committed goalkeepers. We offer the most up to date training methods and techniques. Our trainers deal with the relationship of the following concepts.. to a goalkeeper’s technical and tactical functions: Transition, verbal and visual communication, vision and reading the game.
Technical Functions:
- Shot Stopping: Diving, Tipping, punching, parrying, catching, and body position.
- Crosses: Catching, boxing with one/two hands, attacking the ball, and body position and shape.
- Distribution: Throwing, kicking (goal kicks), punting, and drop kicking.
- Technical (Feet): Comfortable with the ball at feet when passing and receiving.
- Breakaways: Quickness of the goal line, body shape, staying on feet as long as possible, not falling backwards.
Tactical Functions:
Defending:
- Organization of defense
- Playing as last defender, providing cover and balance
- Starting position and adjustments in reference to the movement of the ball and players
- Recognizing pressure on the ball
- Range of coverage in the box
Attacking:
- Organize the shape of the team when starting an attack
- Offer support in the attack
- Switching the point of the attack when needed
- Have a good understanding of risk/safety in the defensive third
